The problem
Client folders in the cloud are copies, and copies fall behind. Sharing the working folder directly saves that step, and when the job ends you can turn the link off.
Why it works
- No second copy to maintain
- The client sees the real working folder, so you never spend an evening syncing a client folder with your own.
- Always today's state
- Clients open the link and see the folder as it is now, without asking whether this is the latest version.
- A clean ending
- When the job is over, you stop sharing and the link goes dark. Nothing to remember to delete in a client folder.
How to set it up
Share the project folder, or a subfolder with the deliverables, using Share with ordner.link.
Keep only View ticked, or tick Upload too if the client should add files. Choose how long the link lasts.
Send the link. When the job ends, stop sharing and the link goes dark.
What to keep in mind
Clients see everything in the shared folder, so share a subfolder if yours holds private notes. Your Mac must be awake and online for them to get in.
Questions
Can a client delete my files?
No. Visitors can never touch your files. Deleting their own uploads is an option you can turn on, and that moves them to your Trash.
What about after the project?
Stop sharing and the link goes dark. Files they downloaded stay with them.
