Grandma needs no app.

Send one link and the photos open in the browser. Nothing to install and no login to explain over the phone.

The problem

Photo albums usually come with an app to install or an account to create, and that is where it ends for many relatives. A link is something everyone already knows how to open.

Why it works

Nothing to explain
Relatives open the link like any other website. No app store, no account, no call to help set it up.
Everyone gets the originals
Family can download full-resolution photos, not squashed copies from a chat app.
The album stays yours
Photos stay in your own folder on your Mac, and you decide how long the link lives.

How to set it up

  1. Right-click the photo folder in Finder and choose Share with ordner.link.

  2. Keep only View ticked and set Who can open it to Anyone.

  3. Send the link in your family chat. Everyone can look through the photos and download their favourites.

What to keep in mind

Your Mac must be awake and online while family members look. Set Link expires to Never if the album should stay available. Anyone with the link can open it, so add a password for private photos.

Questions

Does Grandma need to install anything?

No. The link opens in the browser she already uses.

Can family members add photos too?

Yes, tick Upload as well. They can add files but not change yours.
